The regular schedule below will resume MARCH, 2025.
The Tuesday Evening Asana Class Series allows for the teaching of asana classes in the order they have always been taught: Standing Poses, Forward Extensions, Back Extensions, and Restorative/Pranayama. All classes will include the appropriate inversions.
The Wednesday Morning Peer Mentoring classes are a series of forum style classes relative to Certified Iyengar Yoga Teachers wishing to remain connected, and teachers currently being mentored towards RIMYI Certification. These classes offer opportunity for question and discussion relative to teacheing and practice.
***Teachers are invited to send all questions to Marlene (marlene@iyengarstudio.ca) prior to class.***
The Tuesday Afternoon Pranayama Class Series, consist of simple breathing techniques and Savasana. These practices require very simple props including a chair, 4 blankets (or equivalent) and a strap (or equivalent). Pranayama classes are quite suitable for anyone who has been in the Therapeutic programs previously taught by Marlene Mawhinney. As well as all Iyengar Yoga students looking for a guided Pranayama Practice.
These are livestream classes taught via ZOOM. Once registered in a session a reminder email is sent out one hour and one-half hour prior to class time with a 'Join Session' link. All of these livestream classes will be recorded. The video recordings will be available in your accounts for practice and review up to the posting of the next month’s session. This serves many students in a variety of time-zones.
These ZOOM events open within 30 minutes of class time for students to ‘joint the livestream event’, where you will be admitted to the event waiting room. Students are admitted to class from the ZOOM waiting room (muted and in gallery view) 5-10 minutes prior to class to be able to check their set-ups and wave 'hello'. During class students are 'seen' on screen by Marlene, and students view Marlene as she teaches. On occasion, Marlene will highlight a teacher or student teacher for demonstration purposes.
